Boosting food security in rural Africa
Okralink is an agribusiness startup dedicated to improving food security in rural Africa, starting in Karamoja, Uganda. We focus on sourcing food from regions with surplus production that face limited market access and high post-harvest losses. By purchasing directly from local farmers, we transport and supply fresh, affordable food to low-income, last-mile communities. This excludes middle men that make food prices arise for low-income communities.
In addition to our food supply work, we operate tuktuk vehicles for delivery services, creating additional income streams and supporting local logistics.
In collaboration with other stakeholders, we provide rainwater harvesting systems to collect water during wet seasons, which is used by farmers for irrigation during dry seasons. We also leverage digital tools, including an e-commerce platform for placing orders and a web-based calculator, to help farmers and buyers make informed decisions.
We build strong partnerships with farmers, buyers, and stakeholders to achieve shared goals and drive sustainable agricultural impact together.
We operate with transparency, fairness, and honesty to earn trust and ensure ethical conduct across all relationships and transactions.
We equip farmers with tools and training to withstand climate shocks, adapt effectively, and sustain productivity in challenging conditions.
We design solutions based on local voices, ensuring cultural relevance, inclusiveness, and alignment with the real needs of communities.
We are building a long-lasting agricultural transformation that future generations can inherit with dignity, pride, and improved livelihoods.
We ensure equal access and opportunities for all farmers (regardless of gender, location, or status) through inclusive policies and practices.
We integrate environmental care, economic strength, and social responsibility to create enduring benefits for farmers and ecosystems alike.
Our mission is to boost food security in rural Africa
We envision a food-secure rural Africa where both farmers and households grow together
